Chicken nuggets are awesome. Right? I know. So here is how to make delicious healthy homemade baked chicken nuggets
And not only for adults (probably not especially for adults, but we can not be so demanding now, right?).
Chicken nuggets are baby food almost everywhere.
In-fact, there will always be chicken nuggets everywhere if I am not exaggerating. No wonder, although I can’t say with certainty that everyone loves them, I guess most meat eaters wouldn’t say no to one or two mouthfuls. I love chicken nuggets and no doubts, you will love it too.
Most time when I set foot in a fast food restaurant as a child, I always got nuggetz’ when I was a kid. Never a hamburger, always nuggets.
So that’s it, I love chicken nuggets. Or at least I did. Do you want to know what happened?
I’ve seen a few too many documentaries. Documentaries about food production. I don’t think I’ll go into detail here, but let me just say that now I prefer to do my own at home!
So How Do You Prepare Yummy Crispy Homemade Chicken Nuggets:
1. Bread The Chicken:
The only thing you really have to pay attention to in this recipe is getting the right portion of breading. Because this actually make an impressive crunchy crunchy crust.
You need about three dishes or this.
- Add the flour and seasoning to the first course.
- To the second course add the beaten eggs
- Add your favourite breadcrumbs (or crushed cornflakes!) to the third course.
- Dry your chicken and cut it into pieces (or strips, or if you are very artistically equipped with dinosaurs). Line it with flour and shake the excesses.
- Dip the pieces into the beaten egg
- Then cover with breadcrumbs. Done!
The only thing you should not do is to put together in the same plate any combination of flour, eggs and breadcrumbs.
If you follow the instructions correctly you’ll end up with a deliciously crispy coating around the whole chicken and not just with a few crumbs of bread sticking here and there – your kids (and any chicken nuggets that adults love in your life) will love you for it!
2. Use A Dark Sheet Pan
I always use a dark sheet baking pan (against a silvery or white enameled one) when I want to get something crunchy from the oven.
It better reflects the heat and really helps to make the nugget coating crunchy better than any other color.
3. Dress It In Your Way
- I seasoned them on purpose to make them tasty, but not spicy or overly spicy.
- This is the way I often make them for my children, sometimes I add a little garlic and onion powder.
- You can definitely change the seasoning – you can add chilli powder to add some heat, you can also add grated parmesan cheese to the breadcrumbs.
